ST. LOUIS – Former St. Louis Post-Dispatch political reporter Nicholas J.C. Pistor died Tuesday from health complications after a sudden illness. He was 43.
Pistor loved his hometown of Millstadt, Illinois, the Cardinals, and trying to crack a joke whenever he had the opportunity. While a soft-spoken and often quiet man, Pistor’s crude but never malicious humor made his energy palatable.
An award-winning journalist and author, Pistor graduated from Saint Louis University and almost immediately began working at the Post-Dispatch under a close mentorship with columnist Bill McClellan. Pistor was known for his fair and thorough coverage of state and local politics.
