A man convicted of killing a woman who was carjacked on her lunch break from her job at The Miami Herald was executed Tuesday evening .
Michael Tanzi was put to death via lethal injection at Florida State Prison at approximately 6:12 p.m EDT on Tuesday for the April 2000 abduction and strangling of Janet Acosta, according to the Florida Department of Corrections.
