A few weeks ago, Amarillo was hit by a land hurricane. Something that a lot of us haven’t ever experienced before. The strong winds and the brown skies filled the air. When the wind finally calmed down we had time to survey the damage.
A lot of trees were uprooted. Many signs and billboards were destroyed. A lot of damage around the city. One of the businesses that got hit hard was the Tascosa Drive-In on the Dumas Highway.
The movie screen and ticket window area were hit the hardest at a time when they were just trying to open up for the season. That was a big hit for our community because it wasn’t even a year ago that this drive-in got new ownership…
