CHICAGO — A 26-year-old woman has been arrested in a fatal multi-vehicle crash on the Dan Ryan Expressway, according to Illinois State Police.
Tamia Rios, of University Park , faces one count of Aggravated Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol Involving Death (Class 2 Felony) and two counts of Aggravated Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol Causing Great Bodily Harm (Class 4 Felony) in the three-vehicle crash early Sunday morning on Interstate 94 at 87th Street
ISP says a semi-trailer was slowing due to a stalled vehicle in the road when Rios, the driver of a 2021 Buick, struck both the semi and the stalled vehicle.
The passenger of the Buick, 23-year-old Carlos Rios of Ithaca, NY, was pronounced dead at a local hospital. Rios, her two other passengers, and the driver of the stalled vehicle were transported to area hospitals with injuries.
