Demolition begins on Motel 6 near Lobo Village

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The Motel 6 near off Avenida Cesar Chavez, near Lobo Village, is being torn down. The City of Albuquerque says it’s been a problem property for years.

Records show over the last half-decade there have been more than 3,000 calls for police and EMS. Those include calls for shootings, murders, carjackings, stabbings and drugs. The University of New Mexico purchased the property in February . The hope is to turn it into a gateway into the UNM South Campus. The property cost the university $5 million, but they hope it’s an investment for everyone who comes to a game or lives in the area…
