Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department welcomes new class of officers

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — The newest class of Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department officers graduated at a ceremony Tuesday.

The group of 63, comprised of 53 men and 10 women, were surrounded by proud family members and other officers at the Treasure Island ballroom. There, they celebrated reaching a new milestone in their career journey, which began last September.

“It was a long six months,” said Officer Kathryn Gutierrez, one of the newest members of LVMPD. “We had a lot of fun. We got smoked a lot, which means we had to work out a lot and often, but honestly, we have become such good friends.”…
