‘Super frustrating’ Social Security changes disrupt benefits for L.A. seniors

Changes at the Social Security Administration are causing headaches for seniors and people with disabilities in Los Angeles.

Anthony, an L.A. resident, said his 83-year-old father’s social security checks stopped being deposited after he opened a new bank account. Now that benefit recipients are no longer allowed to verify their identity over the phone, they had to come to the Pico-Union office in person to fix the issue.

“It’s super frustrating,” Anthony told KNX News’ Karen Adams. “This process should have taken two days, maybe. Now we’re in our seventh day of trying to get this done.”…
