On Friday, Feb. 28, officers responded to The Chicken and Shawarma at 180 Bloomfield Ave. after a man, later identified as Jalen Dorch, wearing all black clothing was seen on surveillance video shattering the front door of the business before making entry, removing the cash register, taking $210, Montclair police said.
Later that day, officers responded to Sofia’s Pizzeria at 322 Orange Rd. after Dorch shattered the front door of the business with a rock, police said. Dorch was unable to make entry into the pizzeria.
There were seven additional burglaries committed in Montclair, though Dorch was only arrested for the first two, police said. He was charged with burglary, theft, criminal attempt burglary and two counts of criminal mischief, police said…
