Former Brevard County Deputy Indicted on Murder and Kidnapping Charges in the Death of Jessie Kirk

A former Brevard County Corrections deputy, David Barber, 35, has been indicted by a grand jury on charges including first-degree premeditated murder and kidnapping in connection to the death of 72-year-old Jessie Kirk. According to WFTV, Kirk’s burned remains were located near Haulover Canal, and her torched SUV was subsequently found in Orange County at an intersection far from her Titusville condominium. Barber is currently the sole person of interest in this case.

The tragic incident dates back to early March when Kirk was reported missing by a friend after failing to show up for a morning walk. Her white Lincoln SUV was tracked moving around the city on surveillance footage from late evening until the early morning hours. During the investigation, a nefarious trajectory begins to take shape, painting Barber, the estranged boyfriend of Kirk’s relative, as intertwined in ominous ways. WESH indicates Kirk sent a text to her niece that day, which seemed out of character, adding suspicion to her disappearance.

Kirk’s white Lincoln SUV was observed through surveillance cameras maneuvering around the city from 9 p.m. on the evening of her disappearance until 4:15 a.m. the following morning, according to WESH, and the niece identified a red vehicle at the scene belonging to Barber, adding a twist in the investigation.
