During closing arguments Tuesday, prosecutors told the jury that McManus was not shoplifting and accused Skeens of abusing his power as an officer. The defense claimed Skeens had permission from Target to remove McManus from the store over concerns over shoplifting. This was Skeens’ second trial after the first one in 2024 ended in a mistrial because jurors could not reach a unanimous decision. This is a developing story.
