Local representatives review state Route 8 bridge progress

AKRON — Members of the Summit County Engineer’s Office, the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) and Summit County Council members Jeff Wilhite, Christine Higham and Erin Dickinson met April 3 to assess progress on ODOT’s state Route 8 Bridge Replacement Project.

The visit provided an opportunity to discuss the project’s scope, construction milestones and its impact on local infrastructure and transportation.

According to a press release, the state Route 8 bridge — which was built in 1953 and is owned and maintained by ODOT — is a critical corridor for Northeast Ohio, serving over 114,000 vehicles daily. The project aims to improve safety, longevity and functionality…
