NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Strong thunderstorms will increase across Middle Tennessee Thursday afternoon and evening, producing the risk of very large hail and damaging wind gusts.
Severe outlook
The Storm Prediction Center’s 11:30 a.m. update did not change the overall Slight Risk (level 2/5) in effect for all of Middle Tennessee and Southern Kentucky. This update says that a few supercell storms could develop, making the large hail threat possibly higher than 1″ in diameter. Overall, with our current daytime heating, and the decent wind energy and colder temperatures aloft, storms will produce damaging wind gusts primarily.
FORECAST: Middle Tennessee & Southern Kentucky Weather
The primary concern for the severe storm risk is damaging wind gusts and hail. The Storm Prediction Center says that a few supercells (individual storms) could form, mainly increasing the wind and hail risk. The tornado threat is low, but not zero!
