After a year and a half of investigation and a multi-state search, an armed robbery case from 2023 in Tiburon has seen significant progress. Tiburon Police Department announced the arrest of Anthony Ledell Yancy III, who had been sought in connection with a violent incident that resulted in a local man being robbed and shot at after withdrawing money from an ATM. According to the Town of Tiburon, Yancy was taken into custody during a traffic stop by the Denver Police Department last Saturday on an outstanding warrant.
The initial events unfolded on November 10, 2023, as the victim was trailed from a Bank of America ATM in Strawberry to his home by two suspects. A confrontation at his residence resulted in the suspects demanding money and discharging a firearm, causing non-life-threatening injuries to the man. A BOL or “be on the lookout” was issued shortly after the encounter, and the getaway vehicle, a red Kia, was located by the Richmond Police Department. The driver and sole occupant, then a juvenile, were apprehended while Yancy eluded capture.
Following the 2023 incident, the Tiburon Police Department undertook extensive follow-up investigations, which bore fruit when the second suspect’s identity was confirmed as Yancy, a 21-year-old. The discovery led to a coordinated effort among various law enforcement agencies, culminating in Yancy’s recent arrest.
