Restaurant owner sues central Pa. pastry chef, claiming he misused funds

The owner of the Bistro Barberet & Bakery in downtown Lancaster has filed a lawsuit against the restaurant’s namesake, award-winning pastry chef Cedric Barberet, alleging he misappropriated funds from the business’ parent company, the Orsini Group.

Ben Frank, one of the owners of the business and its building at 26 E. King St., alleges Barberet used company funds to pay for his lifestyle and other business ventures.

“Mr. Barberet used Orsini cash and accounts that he controlled as a personal slush fund, transferring thousands of dollars to himself for numerous personal business ventures,” Frank and the Orsini Group wrote in their lawsuit filed Tuesday…
