Wichita’s Open Streets ICT at WSU set for Sunday

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Open Streets ICT – WSU & Shocker Neighborhood is set for Sunday, April 13, from noon to 4 p.m., closing nearly two miles of 17th Street—from Oliver to Volutsia—for a community-focused event centered on health, wellness, and local engagement.

The event, organized in partnership with local agencies and community groups, aims to promote healthy living by temporarily removing car traffic from the corridor. Attendees are encouraged to walk, bike, skate, or engage in recreational activities throughout the open street route.

Free tire disposal through Saturday

The afternoon will feature:

  • Food trucks
  • Live music and entertainment
  • Vendors and pop-up shops along the route
  • Designated spaces for physical activity and play
