Non-citizen accused of Alabama rape arrested while trying to leave US at Hartsfield-Jackson airport

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – A man accused of rape in Alabama was arrested at Atlanta’s airport on Thursday while trying to return to his home country, U.S. Customs and Border Protection said.

The non-citizen, who has not been identified, was going to take a flight to Guatemala when officials found an outstanding warrant for first-degree rape issued by Alabama’s Opelika Police Department.

The man was taken from the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport to Clayton County Jail, where he awaits extradition to Alabama…
