Lodi city manager placed on leave after alleging misuse of public funds

LODI, Calif. — The Lodi city council placed City Manager Scott Carney on paid administrative leave just days after he publicly alleged widespread misuse of public funds during a raucous council meeting.

The decision, made during a special meeting Wednesday evening, follows a contentious April 1 session in which Carney attempted to present concerns about possible financial misconduct and alleged some city leaders were trying to protect certain employees.
