(Frisco, Texas) – Hi. I’m Michael Gibson. I am not afraid to admit that I am 47 years old and still love to play video games. My favorite genre of game is a Role Playing Game or RPG. I like platformers, too, like Super Mario Brothers and I like beat ’em games like Streets of Rage.

I learned a few years ago about the National Video Game Museum in Frisco. So, of course, I had to take a trip up there to check it out. My first trip was in 2021 and, man, it was so much fun. I took a second trip in 2023 with my fiancé and her daughter and it was even more fun then.

Video games, to me, are the perfect getaway from some of the craziness of the world. Really, in the grand scheme of things, video games haven’t been with us all that long. The first video games showed up in the 1970s. Since then, the gaming industry has developed a rich and fascinating history.

The National Video Game Museum is located just off the Dallas North Tollway in Frisco in the Frisco Discovery Center. This area is also home to the Museum of the American Railroad, the Sci-Tech Discovery Center and Theatre Frisco.

Walking in, you’re greeted by a nice spiderweb of classic gaming consoles and several TV’s all taking us back to TV shows or commercials we’ll instantly recognize from our childhood.
