A 20-year-old Springfield man was arrested early this morning following a high-speed pursuit in Wayne and Stanton counties. According to a news release from Stanton County Sheriff Mike Unger at around 2:15 a.m. a pursuit was initiated by the Wayne Police Department in Wayne with a Ford Mustang that then fled west on Hwy 35 and was pursued by Wayne Police until they discontinued on Hwy 35 near Winside.
A short time later the vehicle was observed on Hwy 35 near the Stanton County line by the Stanton County Sheriff’s office and the vehicle refused to stop and turned back eastbound on Hwy 35. About two miles west of Wayne, the vehicle was successfully spiked with a tire deflation device by Wayne P.D. and the driver, Treyton Smith, was taken into custody after initially provided a fake Wisconsin driver’s license…
