Summer is coming. Here’s when South Texas may see its first 100-degree day.

During March, San Antonio recorded an average high temperature of 82.7 degrees, the warmest high temperatures ever recorded for the month. Now in April, San Antonio has already touched at least 90 degrees three times through the first 10 days of the month.

90 degrees is easy to handle, but when will San Antonio hit the dreaded triple-digit threshold for the first time this year? Thankfully, triple-digit heat is not expected in South Texas for at least the next 10 days . The average date for San Antonio’s first 100-degree day of the year comes on June 26. However, history tells us that it can come much earlier. San Antonio occasionally touches 100 degrees by the end of April, occurring in 10% of years since 1975. By the end of May, the historical odds rise to 24% that we could experience triple-digit heat.
