Austin drivers need to pack some extra patience as new traffic patterns are set to debut on Interstate 35 near downtown next week.
The Texas Department of Transportation is gearing up for the demolition and reconstruction of the north side of the Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard Bridge, which links the Eastside to downtown near the University of Texas at Austin campus. TxDOT announced overnight closures are planned from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. from Monday, April 14, through Wednesday, April 16, as crews re-stripe lanes and prepare to shift all traffic to the south side of the bridge.
That re-striping work will also result in alternating lane closures on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard as well as both I-35 frontage roads near the intersection, TxDOT added…
