Astera Tuhina ready to provide playmaking and senior leadership for young Ducks

EUGENE, Ore. — Astera Tuhina developed into a serial Duck hunter in her career with Washington State, winning three of four games, while posting a career high 24 points in a recent meeting, and making 8-of-9 three-point shots over her last two.

Oregon finally got the better of Tuhina this past December, an 85-70 win at Matthew Knight Arena. In the handshake lines after the win, which saw Tuhina score 14 points on perfect 4-of-4 long distance shooting, Oregon coach Kelly Graves quipped that he hoped she was out of eligibility. Facing her in 2025-26 wasn’t something he looked forward to.

“He was like ‘Ugh, you’re such a good player’. At that point I wasn’t thinking of transferring, but I’d gained so much respect for him,” Tuhina recalled in an interview with DuckTerritory.com on Friday…
