Bishop T.D. Jakes’ $100M Fort McPherson Village Next to Tyler Perry’s Studios Stalls Amid Internal Disputes and Missed Deadlines

Bishop T.D. Jakes’ ambitious plan to redevelop Atlanta’s former Fort McPherson military base has come to a standstill, as disagreements over the project’s vision have halted progress, according to a letter his company sent to local officials.

T.D. Jakes Enterprises (TDJE), led by pastor and entrepreneur Bishop T.D. Jakes, stated in the letter — obtained by 11 Alive News — that negotiations over the vision for the sprawling 130-acre site have reached a stalemate. The company emphasized that it cannot proceed until both parties agree on a shared plan for revitalization.

“Atlanta urgently needs affordable housing and mixed-use development,” the letter reads. “Our mission remains clear: to build a thriving, equitable Fort McPherson and deliver what is truly needed where it’s needed most.”

In 2021, Jakes’s company joined forces with filmmaker Tyler Perry to acquire and redevelop the former military base located adjacent to Perry’s namesake studios. The partnership split the land into two major parcels: Perry obtained 37 acres, while TDJE purchased 94 acres.
