Winston-Salem man gets 17-21 years in prison for killing roommate after argument

FORSYTH COUNTY, N.C. (WGHP) — A Winston-Salem man will spend around two decades in prison after killing his roommate following an argument, according to the Forsyth County District Attorney’s Office.

At around 10:30 a.m. on Feb. 19, 2021, Winston-Salem Police Department officers came to the Sunrise Towers apartment complex after getting a report of a shooting.

At the scene, police found 47-year-old Noblake Taylor, Jr., on the couch inside his home with a backpack on his lap, suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. EMS attempted life-saving measures; however, he died as a result of his injury.

Investigators say that Taylor had been living as roommates with Tony Rogers at the home and the pair “had not been getting along”. Rogers shot Taylor after an argument on the morning of Feb. 19, 2021, before calling 911 to tell the police what he had done, handing the gun over to investigators and cooperating…
