Chicago man sentenced to 40 years for dealing fentanyl resulting in death

LOGANSPORT – Prosecutor Noah Schafer announced that Anton T. Matthews, 38, of Chicago was sentenced this week in Cass Superior Court Two to 40 years in the Indiana Department of Correction for Dealing in a Controlled Substance Resulting in Death, a Level 1 Felony. The sentence followed Matthews’ guilty plea on the eve of a trial that was scheduled to begin on February 2.

Probable cause affidavits filed in the case reveal that on September 2, 2023 approximately 12:00 p.m. the victim died from an overdose from drugs dealt by Matthews. First Responders Joshua Bennett and Joseph Schlosser of Logansport Police Department performed life-saving measures until Cass County EMS arrived.
