Sister of suspect in New Iberia homicide spoke out

NEW IBERIA, La. ( KLFY )- Markisha Adams told News 10 the homicide stemmed from previous traumatic events. Adams, the sister of the suspect, 36-year-old Marklin Reaux, claimed this was an act of self-defense.

This comes after the New Iberia Police Department said they were called to the 200 block of Pollard Avenue around 9 o’clock Saturday morning for a welfare concern. When detectives arrived, they found a man dead inside of a home. While at the home, officers discovered the vehicle of the deceased man was not at the home.

After obtaining the vehicle’s information, New Iberia Police were able to locate the vehicle in the area of West Main Street and Landry Drive, with the suspect, Reaux, inside. Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but Reaux refused to stop, initiating a vehicle pursuit from New Iberia to Breaux Bridge.
