St. Paul car theft leads to high-speed chase and felony charges

RAMSEY COUNTY, Minn. — A 19-year-old man is facing a slew of felony charges after a car theft and police chase that began in St. Paul.

According to court documents, the incident began at South Saint Anthony Park when a woman reported her car keys and jacket stolen while she was playing pickleball. She then says the thief used the keys to steal her Honda CR-V from the parking lot.

Nine hours after the vehicle was reported stolen, a Ramsey County deputy spotted the Honda in Shoreview. Behind the wheel was Marshall Planting, who court documents say was driving 25 miles per hour over the speed limit.
