For years, I have dabbled in the hobby of smoking. I have had some delicious pieces of meat come off the rack, but I’ve also had some terrible ones too. Pit masters who run barbecue restaurants know what they are doing, and they do it well.
When I think of the state of Colorado, I lean toward green chile and breakfast burritos as the state’s most well-known foods. Barbecue has a special place in locations like Texas, the Carolinas, and Kansas City.
However, some Colorado smoke houses have been making waves in the barbecue scene. Our state has three spots that made the list of the 100 best barbecue restaurants in the United States according to Yelp. These Colorado restaurants are ranking up there with iconic spots such as Joe’s Kansas City BBQ, Central BBQ in Memphis, Tennessee, and Franklin Barbeque in Austin, Texas.

The first spot on Yelp’s list of best barbecue restaurants is G-Que’s Competition BBQ in Westminster. Offering pork, brisket, turkey, ribs, sausage, and more, G-Que’s BBQ is a place that is known for barbecue in the state of Colorado.
This barbecue restaurant has three locations in Colorado, and fans rave about the selection of smoked meats. Georgia Boys BBQ in Longmont earns its place on the list at 88.
