Train strikes, kills man near Battle Creek

SPRINGFIELD, MI — Investigators are seeking information about the circumstances that led to a 43-year-old Springfield man being struck and killed by a train Saturday, April 12.

Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a pedestrian being struck by a train near N. 20th and Avenue A in Springfield at about 7 p.m., a sheriff’s report stated. Springfield resides on the western border of Battle Creek.

There, investigators located the 43-year-old man beneath a Canadian Railway Train, officials said. Despite emergency medical responders attempting to apply life-saving measures, the man was pronounced dead at the scene…
