When engine seven arrived around 3:10 p.m., they found a construction worker with a penetrating injury, MST said. The patient had fallen off a scaffolding and was impaled through his back and out of their chest with a 3-foot piece of rebar.

Fire crews said that the patient was conscious and alert. When truck one arrived at the scene, they performed the rescue and extraction by accessing a small area under the parent and using a small handheld circular saw to cut the rebar, allowing the patient to be free.
