Post Malone Goes Country at Coachella Closeout

Post Malone wrapped up the first weekend of Coachella on Sunday night with a 90-minute set that surprised some fans. The artist, known for his pop-rap hits, infused a heavy dose of country twang into his performance.

Taking the stage with his signature red plastic cup and cigarette in hand, the 29-year-old launched into country-fied versions of hits like “Texas Tea,” “Wow,” and “Better Now.” The reimagined tracks felt reminiscent of Coachella’s country music counterpart, Stagecoach – a fitting vibe considering Malone’s foray into country music last year.

Malone, dressed casually in jeans and a ball cap, maintained his down-to-earth persona throughout the show. He delivered fan favorites like “Go Flex,” “Goodbyes,” “Lemon Tree,” and “Psycho,” even dropping to his knees during a particularly impassioned rendition. He also performed solo versions of several tracks from his chart-topping country album “F-1 Trillion,” including “I Had Some Help,” “Losers,” and “M-E-X-I-C-O.”

Unlike some past headliners, Malone opted to go solo for his Coachella set, forgoing any surprise guest appearances.

Before diving into the crowd for a meet-and-greet during his closing song, “Sunflower,” Malone shared a brief, motivational anecdote. He recalled being dismissed as a one-hit wonder early in his career, a clear testament to his current success, culminating in his genre-bending performance at one of pop music’s biggest events.
