Central California Heats Up with 80s Before Sierra Thunderstorm Chances

HANFORD, CA — Central California is in for a warm start to the week, with Monday temperatures expected to soar up to 15 degrees above average, according to the National Weather Service in Hanford. Highs across the San Joaquin Valley could easily top the mid-80s before cooling midweek.

By Tuesday, conditions shift as a pair of Pacific troughs bring the potential for afternoon showers and thunderstorms across the Sierra Nevada, continuing through Friday. The strongest chance appears Friday, when a narrow trough may concentrate more storm activity.

Cooler air will push valley temperatures into the 70s midweek before a return to 80s by Sunday.
