Kentucky Weather Alert: Severe Storms With Hail and Winds Begins at 3 PM Monday

Louisville, KY – Strong to potentially severe thunderstorms are forecast to sweep through northeastern Kentucky Monday afternoon, bringing hail and damaging winds to cities including Louisville, Lexington, and Ashland.

According to the National Weather Service in Louisville, the primary threat window is from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. EDT. The system could bring medium-risk gusty winds and hail, with isolated lightning strikes and even a brief, low-risk spin-up tornado not fully ruled out. The agency’s Severe Weather Outlook places much of eastern and northeastern Kentucky in a Slight Risk (Level 2 of 5) zone, while areas stretching toward Bowling Green remain in the Marginal Risk (Level 1) category.
