RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) – A cold front will be approaching the area later this evening and overnight.
The latest data now indicates a line of strong thunderstorms is expected to develop back in West Virginia then track east across the northern one half of our viewing area, focused mainly in areas north of I-64.
Note that the Storm Prediction Center now has a large portion of West Virginia into the Shenandoah Valley region of Virginia under a Level 3 out of 5 or ENHANCED risk of severe storms this evening. The main threat from these stronger storms will be damaging straight line winds along with the possibility of some larger hail:
