Police; 16-year-old in custody after striking squad car with stolen vehicle in Rockford

A 16-year-old from Loves Park is in custody after driving a reportedly stolen vehicle into a police car.

According to the Rockford Police Department, a Rockford K-9 attempted to stop a stolen vehicle in the area of North Court and Locust streets on Rockford’s near west side when the vehicle fled.

The vehicle was spotted a short time later, at which time it struck the side of a occupied squad car. The vhiecle drove off again and was stopped near the UW Sports Factory, police said…
