PORTLAND, Ore. (KATU) — A woman was sentenced to 75 months in prison for manslaughter in the second degree following a fatal crash on NE Marine Drive.
The crash occurred on Feb. 23 of last year when Maria Moncada’s black BMW struck a parked car, resulting in the death of the person inside, Bonny Heyn.
Witnesses reported seeing Moncada driving recklessly at speeds up to 104 mph before losing control and colliding with the parked car. Police observed signs of alcohol impairment, and the Oregon State Crime Lab confirmed Moncada’s blood alcohol concentration (BAC) was in the triple digits. In Oregon, anyone with 0.08% of BAC or higher is legally “under the influence.”…
