An NYPD officer on Staten Island has been arrested following a domestic dispute. Usman Kalair, 36, was taken into custody at around 8:30 p.m. last Thursday, according to PIX11 News. He is being charged with a range of offenses, including strangulation, criminal obstruction of breathing, assault, harassment, and endangering the welfare of a child.
Kalair, who has been with the NYPD since 2022 and is assigned to the Brooklyn Court Section, was arrested in connection with an incident that involved a victim who had a prior relationship with the defendant. Allegedly, the confrontation began verbally before quickly escalating to physical violence. The defendant is accused of having then put his hands around the victim’s neck and shoved her into a closet wall.
