Rejected signatures keep two mayoral candidates off Syracuse primary ballot leaving likely three-way race

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — It appears that it could have been a five-way primary for the mayor of Syracuse, but it will more likely be a three-way primary on the Democratic side.

Letters obtained by NewsChannel 9 show that two of the five candidates are preliminarily off the ballot after a review by the Onondaga County Board of Elections shows each not having enough valid signatures on their nominating petitions.

Letters addressed to Jimmy Oliver and Alfonso Davis each read: “After careful examination and review of the Objections, Specifications, and Designating Petition and all applicable provisions of the New York State Election Law, please be advised that the Objections and Specifications were sustained by this board.”
