Green Bay man sentenced to 10 years in prison for child assault cases at local hotel

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – A 19-year-old Green Bay man will spend the next 10 years behind bars after being sentenced Friday in Brown County Court for two separate child assault cases that occurred at a local hotel.

Mauricio A. Powless received a 10-year prison sentence for attempted first-degree sexual assault of a child and second-degree sexual assault of a child. Two additional charges were dismissed but read in as part of a plea agreement .

Following his prison term, Powless will serve 10 years of extended supervision and must register as a sex offender.

The charges stem from a series of incidents that took place at the Tundra Lodge in Green Bay. On January 20, officers responded to a report that Powless tried to pull down a child’s pants and then block them from exiting an elevator. The victim told police that while Powless did pull her pants down, he did not make further contact before running out…
