Police release photo of ATV driver suspected of running over police officer

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – Law enforcement has asked the public for help in identifying a driver on an all-terrain vehicle who ran over a police officer in downtown Kansas City, Missouri.

Just before 7 p.m. on Saturday, an officer with the Kansas City Police Department had attempted to place tire deflation devices to deter offroad motorized bicycles and an ATV from performing stunts and driving erratically, KCPD Chief Stacey Graves said.

At the intersection of East Truman Road and South Main Street, near the Crossroads, the police officer tried to take the ATV driver into custody, “when the driver backed up, brought the ATV into a wheelie and struck our officer, landing atop our officer, and then continued to drive over him as he fled the scene,” Graves added…
