ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – Rockford-area funeral directors say they’re responding to a shift as more people choose cremation over traditional burial services.
Experts say in Illinois, the median cost for a funeral with a viewing and burial ranges from $5,000-$10,000. Cremation often costs about half of that, which is why experts believe families may choose that option.
