Police engage in standoff with man armed with knives in NW Portland; leave without arrest

PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) – Police engaged in a standoff with a suspect armed with two knives outside a restaurant on Monday night, but left the scene without an arrest, according to the Portland Police Bureau (PPB).

Police say that just before 6 p.m., they spotted a person known to have an arrest warrant in the area of Northwest 21st Avenue and Northwest Hoyt Street.

They say as they attempted to contact the suspect, he used pepper spray on officers and lunged at them with a knife before running off…
