Teen charged with bringing gun to Akron high school, leading to lockdown: Sheriff

AKRON, Ohio (WJW) – A student was arrested after investigators said she brought a gun to an Akron high school on Monday, leading to a lockdown.

According to the Summit County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy working at Buchtel High School noticed a possible firearm in a student’s bag during a security screening on Monday.

The deputy discovered that the bag, containing a 9mm pistol, belonged to a 17-year-old student, the sheriff’s office said. The firearm was confiscated.
