Lil Nas X Shares Health Update After Experiencing Facial Paralysis
Rapper Lil Nas X recently updated fans on his health after a sudden partial facial paralysis. In a series of Instagram posts from a hospital bed, the 26-year-old star, whose real name is Montero Lamar Hill, revealed he’d “lost control” of the right side of his face.
Despite the concerning news, Lil Nas X maintained his signature humor, posting a video of himself attempting to smile with the caption, “This is me doing a full smile right now, by the way. Bro, I can’t even laugh right.”
He later reassured fans, saying he was “OK” and encouraging them to “shake [their] ass” for him instead of worrying. He also joked about his temporary new look, posting, “I’mma look funny for a lil bit but that’s it.”
Celebrities and fans alike flooded the comments section with well wishes. Actress Taraji P.
Henson sent her love, while Garbage singer Shirley Manson commented, “Get well baby.” Comedian Wanda Sykes offered some sage advice, writing, “Sometimes your body tells you to sit down somewhere.
Rest up.”
While Lil Nas X didn’t reveal the cause of the paralysis, speculation online pointed to Bell’s Palsy or Ramsay Hunt Syndrome, both temporary conditions that can affect facial nerves.
The health scare comes amid promotion of his new EP, “Days Before Dreamboy,” a preview of his highly anticipated second album. In recent interviews, the “Old Town Road” artist has been candid about the challenges of creating the follow-up to his 2021 debut, “Montero,” revealing he’d initially felt pressured to maintain an “outrageous” persona, but has since learned to embrace a more relaxed approach. He also recently shared that he passed on a collaboration with Taylor Swift after struggling to find the right “vibe.”
