Two local high school students honored by sheriff’s office for putting out arson fire

VAN BUREN COUNTY, Mich. — Two southwest Michigan teens were celebrated for their good deeds and quick action on Monday when they were sworn in as Honorary Van Buren County Sheriff’s Deputies.

Their honor and distinction were earned on March 13 when the two spotted three juveniles setting fire to a construction trailer in Hartford.

“Rigo Moreles and Kamryn Johnson ran to the trailer with fire extinguishers and put it out,” the VBCSO said. “They were able to save the trailer and contents due to their actions.”…
