Gas Prices Expected To Skyrocket In New York State

It looks like the trend of gas prices falling will soon be over in New York State.

Starting in a couple of weeks, gas producers will have to switch over to the summer blend of gas, which is more expensive to make, and that will drive the cost of gas up across the state.

WHAT IS SUMMER BLEND GAS?

The summer blend of gas is used across the country between May and September. The gas is mixed to withstand warmer temperatures and not evaporate as fast as the winter blend. The process to make the gas is more involved, which leads to higher prices.

HOW MUCH MORE PER GALLON DOES SUMMER BLEND GAS COST?

On average, the price for a gallon of summer blend gas is about 10-15 cents more than the gas used during the cooler winter months.

According to AAA, the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gas in New York State is around $3.10. That is down two cents from last month and down around 40 cents from last year…
