Commercial Fire Snarls Tampa Traffic, One Firefighter Injured

TAMPA, Fla. – A commercial fire in the East Tampa area Monday morning prompted a significant response from Tampa Fire Rescue (TFR) and temporarily shut down a portion of East Broadway Avenue.

Firefighters were dispatched to the 4000 block of E. Broadway Ave. at approximately 10:45 AM following reports of a structure fire. Upon arrival, first responding engines encountered a single-story commercial building with visible smoke and flames emanating from the roof.

According to TFR officials, dense smoke permeated the interior of the building, significantly reducing visibility for firefighters conducting their operations.
