BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — 34-year-old Norbert Karaba, initially was arrested on EBT theft charges in January, allegedly caught with 78 cloned EBT cards and almost $64,000 in stolen cash.
Three months later, he has once again been arrested on new fraud charges coming out of Los Angeles County. Sitting next to him in court were Romanians 51-year-old Nicolae Bud and 29-year-old Giorgio Marcelo, who are the newest defendants in an EBT theft case, according to the District Attorney.
The three suspects were arrested at a home in Northridge. These arrests raise the number to seven Romanians who have allegedly been arrested for stealing taxpayer money, from those most in need.
