Shenandoah mulls allowing officers to take home patrol cars as effort to retain, recruit personnel

Shenandoah is seeking options to attract and retain police officers as the department faces increasing staffing vacancies.

Police Chief Troye Dunlap said he plans to authorize police officers to take their police vehicles home after their shift as an incentive to “improve officer retention and attract new applicants,” according to an April 9 agenda memo to the city council.
