HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Many people see rabbits as cute, low-maintenance “starter pets,” especially around Easter, but they actually need as much care (sometimes more) as traditional pets like cats and dogs.
”The truth is they require specialized care, can live over 10 years, and often don’t like being held. Sadly, many rabbits bought for Easter are abandoned once the novelty wears off. We want people to understand that adopting a rabbit is a serious commitment, not a seasonal trend,” said Lawai Diaz, founder/executive director of Better Bunny, a nonprofit, volunteer-run rabbit rescue on Oahu that rehabilitates and re-homes neglected, abused and abandoned rabbits, while educating the public on proper rabbit care.
